Sydney Swans

Foyer and Museum of Sydney Swans’ new Headquarters in the Royal Hall of Industries, Sydney.

THE
PROJECT

Impeller was honoured to lead the design, curation and delivery of this permanent exhibition for the Sydney Swans, housed within the grand volume of the Royal Hall of Industries. The brief called for an environment that could carry 148 years of legacy and serve as a living space for the Club’s future.
Our design approach responded with a spatial choreography that balances reverence and energy. A central, dual-sided Premiership Trophy Display anchors the foyer, placing all ten Cups on clear acrylic plinths in a gesture of clarity and lightness. The display offers both impact and openness with the 2012 Cup taking pride of place on arrival. Surrounding this are moments of recognition and memory: a crafted Donor Wall, a quiet homage to the Royal Hall’s architectural history, and the True Believers Ode, embedded with material warmth and textual rhythm.
Beyond the entry sequence, the Hall of Fame and Museum unfolds through curated object displays, iterative guernsey presentations, and responsive digital media each element grounded in tactile, human-scale design.
Brought in late but landing with weight, the Brownlow Factory honours the Swans’ legacy as the most decorated club in Brownlow history. Fourteen medals. Decades of dominance. A tradition of class on and off the field.
Impeller turned this last-minute addition into a headline feature. Designing a bold, high-impact space that frames each medal with pride, precision, and polish. From velvet-lined cases to story-rich plaques, every detail elevates the legends who wore the red and white best. It may have joined the game late, but this tribute plays like it’s been there from the first bounce.
From concept to completion, Impeller led the full project scope, including spatial planning, interpretive design, object curation and production. This is not a static archive, but a spatial narrative. Adaptable, ceremonial, and deeply connected to the culture it represents. A new home for the red and white, set within one of Sydney’s most enduring civic halls.
